Belgrade’s Best Coffees: Part 4

Belgrade’s undiscovered coffee scene, uncovered. Belgrade’s coffee scene is bustling, with cafes on almost every corner. The coffee addict & laptop-club-in-a-cafe-girl in me rejoices – it really is heaven on earth. Here’s a selection of 10 of my favourite coffee places in Belgrade. If you missed part 1, part 2, and part 3, you can find them here and here and here. May need to fly over there again to make a part 5! Scroll down for a little map, so you can see which cafes are close by.

DJURA

Djura is a rodeo-western-cowboy-esque cafe, and such a vive. The cafe features exposed brick walls, a long rustic wooden table and industry piping accents. Low hung metal lightbulbs at the bar area create an iconic place to enjoy a drink, whilst the rodeo-style open windows add further to the cowboy vibe.

Djura is also a great place for group study sessions – there is a long wooden table which make it a great collaborative space. There’s smaller square tables for coffee chats, taller bar seating for drinks, and fire-side sofas for a relaxed catch up with a friend.

KAFOGRAF

A cute, rustic cafe opposite the Botanic Garden, Kafograf takes you back in time, exuding vintage vibes. The beautifully painted “seaside sky” wall, and potted green plants adds a bright and calming touch to the cafe. White wooden features and glass accents add to the tranquil ambiance. The cafe has refurbished and created innovative furniture using antiques. Enjoy a coffee on a refurbished gramophone table with a  glass top for a truly authentic experience.

KAFETERIJA SEČER

If you’re looking for innovative coffees and lattes in Belgrade, then look no further K. Šećer, is the place to go. I chose this lovely pink cappuccino – cappuccino with pink colouring and beautiful latte art. They also have a rose cappuccino which has a sweet rose syrup, and, of of course, is pink! As well as pink drinks, they have matcha lattes, spirulina latte and turmeric lattes!

MIAM MIAM

Founded by Marija Veljanovska, Miam Miam, translating to “Yum Yum”, is a culinary heaven in the heart of Belgrade’s Vračar district.

You will be murmuring “Miam Miam” not only at the food; the interior is just as exciting! As soon as you step in, you will be feeling like Narnia’s Lucy stepping in to a small wardrobe to discover a much larger, beautiful world beyond.

🌱Walk right to the back to discover a hideaway secluded on the top floor – a greenhiuose-esque space with a large sun window, bright sun rays beaming in, simultaneously warming the space and creating a bright atmosphere.

🐰Fairy lights hang from the glass railing, entwining with wooden branches to create a canopy for the ground floor and a magical and calming atmosphere. Wooden chairs painted with a lick of millennial pink complement the light grey speckled tables with rose-qurtz-esque accents and pale pink napkins, all of which add a further relaxing touch.

BAGETERIJA

A large conservatory, with French doors and a bright sunroof creates an airy and sunny scene. Wicker chairs, light birchwood accents, palm trees and potted small plants create a very calming ambiance. These two fundamental features create a great place to have a relaxing brunch and is an egg-cellent place to study or have a digital nomad session.

WOOOW MATCHA

The bright blue wall says it all – “Chill Out”! How Matcha is the perfect place to relax after exploring central Belgrade! There’s an iconic green wall at the back with a bright pink neon sign saying “It’s never too matcha”! There’s no such thing as too much matcha!

MARTOVSKI

A beautiful cafe situated on Kraljice Marija, Martovski is a beautiful open cafe, great for a coffee catch up with a friend. The large French doors open up on to street side seating, and the beautiful black brick wall is painted with luscious greens.

GIR

The cafe where design meets taste. Opened in January 2022, Gir Cafe is a calm oasis in New Belgrade. A glistening black marble coffee bar is tucked away in the corner, and the bright sunlit space is filled with large black tables and decorated with luscious greenery and large mirrors to reflect even more bright light into the space. It’s a great place if you’re looking for a quiet spot to study but get anxiety every time you step into a library!

ZRNO

Zrno is a quiet cafe in Vračar, and is a good place if you want a quiet solo zen study session. A green plush sofa lines on one wall, with a colourful painting on top, helping you to get your creative juices flowing. French doors open up on to an outdoor patio, meaning you can work on a tall bar table and enjoy people watching too !

LEILA RECORDS

A record-store-come-cafe-bar, Leila records houses more than 12,000 tunes, including Yugoslavian jazz, ethno music and new releases. Pop by in the evenings for a truly memorable night. The slogan on top of the DJ booth reads “We don’t tell you what to drink – so don’t tell us what to play!”

Here’s a little map to help with your decision. As always, let me know what’s on your bucket list!

Lots of love, Jo xoxo
