Comfortable, cosy espadrilles are a summer wardrobe staple. The Chanel black leather espadrilles have been on my wishlist for a few years, and last summer I finally pulled the trigger and bought these iconic flats.
Epitomising French Riviera life, Chanel’s espadrilles, in fact, only graced the cobbled Cannes streets in 2013. On the other hand, YSL’s similar flats have been silently strolling since the 1970s. Designed by Karl Lagerfeld for the Spring Summer 2013 collection, their popularity escalated rapidly, deceptively leading us to believe that they have been a staple in Coco’s wardrobe. Or maybe this is the Mandela Effect in action?!
Last summer, I enjoyed a beautiful day out in London with my mama, and we popped into Chanel to buy these gorgeous buttery-soft shoes. I’d been periodically popping in, trying them on to make sure that I was sure on the size, colour and style. I opted for the black lambskin espadrilles– a versatile number.
I like to wear mine with my favourite black Maje Skort with golden bees, and a black jumper with white pearl hearts. This creates an elegant look, whilst having comfortable shoes!
I was toying between the black lambskins and the black-and-beige option. The black and beige are another lovely neutral pair, which can elevate a standard outfit to a more glamorous level. Skinny black jeans, and a black blazer can instantly be made more elegant with these classic shoes. An added bonus is that they are super comfortable so you can enjoy shopping trips without worrying about the pain of heels!
As well as lambskin, these comfortable slippers are available in tweed and fabrics. The fuzzy ivory pair with black toe caps are an elegant winter option, and can easily match with a number of colourful and neutral outfits.
The bright pink cotton tweed espadrilles are a true fashion statement. Pair these with an all black outfit to add a sudden pop of colour!
Currently priced at £620 in the UK. I also found them in Paris airport for €800 (~£690), even though I expected them to be cheaper there.
