Belgrade’s Best Coffees: Part 2

Belgrade’s undiscovered coffee scene, uncovered. Belgrade’s coffee scene is bustling, with cafes on almost every corner. The coffee addict & laptop-club-in-a-cafe-girl in me rejoices – it really is heaven on earth. Here’s a selection of 10 of my favourite coffee places in Belgrade. If you missed part 1, you can find it here. Stay tuned for a part 3! Scroll down for a little map, so you can see which cafes are close by.

D59B

Guys. I. Can’t. I’ve found my favourite coffee. Ever. D59B’s Capp surpasses all coffees I’ve had. In London. Cambridge. And. Beyond. And, no, I’m not being paid to say this. No, this is not an ad. No, the Eastern European mafia are not holding me hostage. And, no, I am not being dramatic (for once).

This cappuccino features Brazilian beans, roasted in Senjak and brewed in Dorcól. The flavours are truly E.X.P.L.O.S.I.V.E. All other coffees p-a-l-e in comparison. Added bonus 💰- the latte art STAYED even whilst I was sipping away! Now that’s talent.😍

D59B exudes strong Berlin vibes. Exposed brick walls, concrete stairs, white ceramic tiles, light wooden accents, a mish mash of fabric, plastic and tapestry chairs… combined with dark lighting, dim lit red accent lights & jazz tunes… creates a distinct vibe. Think London’s Fuckoffee…but on steroids!

Just off Kralja Petra, D59B is the perfect place to stop off for a coffee if you’re on a shopping spree on what-I-like-to-call Belgrade’s Bond Street (Miranda Hart still influencing my lingo 10 years on)

THINKERS

“Thinkers”, the place to study and caffinate, and study and drown your stress in “pivot” (n.b. please drink responsibly. Thinker’s has an edgy ambiance, with loud base music and chatter to create a dynamic atmosphere. The cafe-bar is filled with uni students and millennials either studying or loudly catching up – it’s a hotpot of energy! A large brick wall with a black painted lightbulb and illuminating neon sign reading “think” lights up the wall at the entrance. Other walls are painted darkly in black, or are an orangey wooden brown, complementing the black wire mesh accents, and luscious leafy greens which are dotted around. Low hanging long lightbulbs further add to the deep “thinking” theme.

UZITAK

“Uzitak” – and this cafe really was a true “pleasure”! A cosy cafe with a bright summery ambiance – chequered black and white flooring complements the light wooden tables and iconic pops of yellow colour. A large chalkboard the length of the longest wall displays drawings of coffees, whilst the opposing wall is lined with books and shelves.

BLACK MILK

Situated a short stroll away from St Mark’s Church, Black Milk is a great solo study and work spot. Solo black square tables create a great laptop location, and the industry interior adds to the creative vibe. The black tinted mirror compliment the black sofa seating and black tables, low hung industrial lighting, rusty black piping and aluminium accents.

WHY

Why is an iconic lounge bar on the outskirts of Dorćol. Black brick walls, extremely tall ceilings, and low hung iridescent orange lights create an industrial vibe. Green plants and bright neon signs contrast perfectly against the black walls. A neon sign exclaims “Don’t Ask Why”. Don’t Ask Why I’m on my 5th coffee. Don’t Ask Why I am partying when I have a flight to catch in the am. The oney rule you have to listen to hear: Don’t Ask Why.

DIVERZIJA

A tropical bar and cafe on Belgrade’s new waterfront, Diverzija is a cocktail and coffee paradise. Neon lights, sharp black walls, an iconic green leaf wall with aboriginal-esque paintings, low hung orange lights and a miso-mash of interesting textured art… Diverzija really is a diverse jungle. Iconic bathrooms are where the photoshoots happen, we all know this. And Diverzija delivers. Tropical jungle sounds reverberate in the bathrooms, creating a calming atmosphere. Iconic mirrors with printed slogans will mean you will be spending a bit too longer in there.

KIOSK

A sunny spot in Dorćol, Kiosk is a lovely, quaint place to have a coffee outside, soaking up some vitamin D! Vibrant table-top flowers add a tranquil ambiance. It’s a lovely spot to people watch & enjoy the outside air – do note that there’s no indoor seating (surprise, surprise, it’s called “Kiosk”)

WKND

Wknd exudes Danish hygge- there’s a warm, cosy, homely atmosphere. Light grey, bark brown and deep cream floor tiles complement the soft plush grey chairs and deep turquoise sofa. The window’s fairy lights create a snug ambiance, complementing the brown wheat accents and cherub soft furnishings.

BLOOM COFFEE

Bloom is situated inside Luff Gelato’s bright and airy ice cream bar. Large bright windows allow light to flood in. Enjoy your coffee and gelato on their bar stools. The pops of turquoise blue colour through cushions and cups add a welcome seaside touch!

LIBERTE

A French-style brasserie, the interior & menu make me a-liken it to Cote Brasserie. White tiles with smaller black diamonds at the corners, black railing, white walls and marble tables create a refined and sophisticated atmosphere. Low hung gold lights and gold accents add a further touch of elegance.

Here’s a little map so you can locate that cafes much more easily. As always, let me know your faves and I’ll them to my bucket list. Lots of love, Jo xoxo
