It’s time to sparkle and shine! Prom season is looming, and it’s time to celebrate the end of exams and another academic year by shining bright. You’ve got your prom dress sorted (blog post here), and your shoes have been chosen (blog post here), and now it’s time to decide on your bag!

I have tried to source smaller designer, higher-end high-street and also high-street priced bags which have taken inspiration from these designer pieces- so you can find a bag to suit your budget and celebrate in style!
JIMMY CHOO CLUTCH
Jimmy Choo’s clutch bags are the perfect evening clutch. My favourite styles & Jimmy-Choo-inspired pieces are below:
JIMMY CHOO CLEMMIE. This clutch has a hard outer shell, and is decorated with crystals. What I love is that there is a detachable chain strap, meaning that you can either wear this bag as a clutch, or as a longer chain bag
JIMMY CHOO EMMIE. A bold clutch with a sparkly glitter fabric, to truly make you the star of the ball. As with the Clemmie, the Emmie has a detachable strap, so you can add the strap later in the evening when you’re in the mood for a hands-free dance.
JIMMY CHOO SWEETIE. Another glittery icon, but in contrast to the Emmie, the Sweetie is an acrylic clutch. This hard-case bag also has ribbed panelling and a magnetic snap closure.
PRADA
PRADA Re-Edition 2000 with Crystals
In 2019, Prada began re-issuing their iconic pieces from the noughties – including their iconic nylon bag. In a beautiful twist, they also created a dazzling crystal version of this fashion statement.
This coveted designer piece is like gold (or should I say, “silver”) dust. The crystal bag was available in black, cream and a beautiful blush pink. Rather than nylon, the glistening gem stones on a luxurious satin, rather than the traditional nylon fabric.
Initially, it was an exclusive for a Dubai’s Prada pop up store, but then the fashion house shipped *very* limited quantities globally. If you managed to secure the bag, then hats off to you!
Surprise, surprise, it’s out of stock in Selfridges, and SOLD OUT almost everywhere through traditional retailers. However, I have managed to find the bag here!:
Miu Miu is an alternative which is in more plentiful supply.
As well as the iconic crystal bag, the Re-Edition sequin bag is a gorgeous ball and prom piece.
PRADA Cleo with sequins & other sequin bags
Prada’s 1990 hobo bag has been reincarnated as the Cleo, a curvy bag with sloping sides and a flowing shape. This statement piece, of course, has also been crafted in a dazzling sequin form. Prada also have other sequin bags which are a great size to carry more items, if you’re more of a big bag person!
