Craving a little getaway or staycation? A weekend detox? A well-deserved spa break? I’ve got you covered!
Heaven or Hell? High or Low? Up top or down low? A running (unintentional) theme is these spas are either underground or high up in the sky. Are you a “Underground Spa” or “Spa in the Clouds” type?
Here’s a selection of some of my favourites for a relaxing weekend staycation! Let me know of your recommendations & I’ll check them out!
Enjoy! Lots of love, Jo xoxo
SHANGRI-LA
Have a weekend to remember in Western Europe’s tallest skyscraper. Featuring London’s highest hotel infinity pool, make sure to soak up the mesmerising panoramic London skyline as you lap up the pool🌊.
Book the London Suite for a relaxing haven in the sky and a weekend not to forget💫. With a personal butler, and breath-taking skyline views, and “The Iconic SkyHigh Bath” , you will really be Living Your Best Life💕!
45 PARK LANE
Featuring London’s iconic Venetian-tiled pool🌊, with a floral mosaic and low-mood lighting, 45 Park Lane is a sensual underground health and wellbeing lair beneath the streets of Mayfair.
Designed by Jouin Manku, the spa is an indulgent paradise, with a myriad of treatments to choose from💎.
Next on my list is Carol Joy’s London Caviar Algae Detox – a full body polish featuring essential oils, pink Himalayan salts and luxurious caviar balm. Leave feeling like a Goddess👼🏻.
NOBU PORTMAN SQUARE
Nobu Portman Square really is a hidden gem in my favourite neighbourhood, Marylebone. Sophisticated and refined💫, the sleek aesthetic creates a tranquil and calming atmosphere.
The Nobu wellness centre is a zen spot for your workouts🍃. Created by Marsha Lindsay, Nobu’s trio of pilates classes caters to different tastes – choose from Power, Precision and Pure. Light snacks, juices and smoothies greet you as you leave your class, nourishing your body post-workout. I can’t wait to be back!
AIRE ANCIENT BATHS
A magical underground maze of spa pools… this will inevitably be a romantic and sensual staycation. Dark and moody, lit by burnt orange candles 🕯nestled in the brick walls. Soothing melodies play in the background. This is sure to be a memorable weekend.
NOMAD
This Grade II-listed hotel in the heart of Covent Garden brings a touch of New York 🏙to London. Manhattan saw the opening of The Nomad back in 2012, and 2021 saw this global icon open its first outpost outside the US … in none other than London.
Be sure to dine in the awe-inspiring Victorian greenhouse 🍃restaurant. A large, airy atrium with hanging plants and a light, watercolour palette creates a tranquil atmosphere as you dine🍽.
THE NED
Have a massage, relax and indulge in the former vault of Midland Bank🏦, now the Ned’s Spa.
Relax in Europe’s largest hammam, featuring gorgeous pink marble and a temperate of 32-38C. Then, grab a glass of wine🍷, and enjoy pool-side! Green marble columns encircle the 65ft pool🌊, whilst the scallop lights create a moody ambiance.
If you love your skylines like me, then venture to the rooftop, for a delightful outdoor swim, sky-high above London with breathtaking pool views of St Paul’s Cathedral and the London cityscape.
BONUS: SOHO FARMHOUSE
Ok, ok, it’s not London. But it’s only a short ride away – close enough to visit, but far away enough to forget about the London bustle & relax!
No British retreat guide would be complete without a Soho House feature. Situated in the Oxfordshire countryside🌳, Soho Farmhouse transports you to an 18th century paradise.
Wooden panelling, antique accents and floral wallpaper create a rustic and wholesome ambiance for a quaint retreat. Be sure to relax in the Cowshed Spa and enjoy a quintessential Horse Ride🐴.
