J’adior the Dior Slingbacks

Maria Grazia Chiuri debuted these now iconic pumps in the Autumn 2019 collection. Ribbon embroidered with “J’adior” decorates the shoe, adding a slight relaxed touch to a traditional high heel. Pair your J’adior heels with the iconic Lady Dior for a head-to-toe magical look. Shining the spotlight on the details

The J’adior heels have been created in two heel heights. The comma heel is available in a 6.5cm height and 10cm height. The shoe has also been reincarnated through ballerina flats. Surprisingly, I find the taller heel height more comfortable than the shorter heel and I am half a size bigger with the shorter shoe. I’d definitely recommend trying the shoes on in store if you live close to a Dior boutique.

The STAR: BELIEVE IN YOUR DESTINY

Each shoe is adorned with a golden Dior star on the sole. 

I am sure you have heard the story of Dior’s star a number of times, but it’s a magical story which is worth recounting. Legend has it that on the evening of 18 April 1946, Monsieur Dior was walking on the cobbled streets in Paris and almost tripped. The object on the floor was a star, opposite the British Embassy, and suddenly Dior was inundated with many memories. He took the star to indicate the path he was to follow; to set up his own fashion house. 

Dior’s shoes have stars on the soles, a nod to how Monsieur Dior founded the Maison, and a reminder to BELIEVE IN YOUR DESTINY. 

Slingback Staple

Dior’s calfskin slingbacks should be your next classic staple. The iconic silhouette features a curvy comma heel and cotton J’adior-embroidered ribbon, creating a sleek shoe. The black-patent-calfskin combination is the pièce de resistance of the collection; the silhouette is recognizable from a distance. The patent calfskin creates a polish look, which will instantly make your outfit more sophisticated.

If you’re after a sophisticated shoe to wear to summer work parties and formal events, but find black too sharp a colour, I’d recommend the nude patent calfskin pump. The iconic Dior silhouette is preserved, but the colour brightens the shoe and matches summery work outfits.

My Shining J’adior Heels

These metallic J’adior slingback heels are a truly dazzling evening shoe and I was so happy when I added them to my collection! What I love about these specific heels is that they are, much like the “Slingback Staple”, crafted with calfskin, meaning that the iconic silhouette of the shoe is preserved. The metallic colour creates a pearlescent effect, sure to add a significant touch of glamour to any evening party outfit.

These dazzling shoes have little matching gems which spell out “J’adior”. They add a little touch of sparkle to the already dazzling shoes. However, in contrast the below Rose Des Vents shoes, the gems add the majority of the “wow factor”.

After trying on the gold, silver and rose gold metallic heels, I was so lost as to which to purchase! All will add a statement touch of glamour to your outfit. I came into the store wanting the rose gold pair, but walked out with the Cinderella silver shoes.

I’d recommend the metallic rose gold heels if you’re looking to add a subtle touch of glamour to your outfit. They add a subtle, discreet sparkle to a sophisticated evening party outfit. The gold pair will add the biggest “wow” factor, and when paired with a gold Lady Dior, will make heads turn. I chose the silver heels as they’re the “Goldilocks pair”. They’ll make your feet standout, without being too garish. They’re the most versatile and will match with more evening outfits.

Dazzling Rose Des Vents

One of the most dazzling heels in Dior’s collection, and on my bucket list, are the sparkly rose cotton embroidered heels with metallic thread and gemstones, providing a sparkling, shining shoe. J’adior on the ribbon is spelt out with the gorgeous, glistening gemstones, adding a truly shiny touch. Gem stones in a striped fashion reflect the light in such a way to create a dazzling shoe in the evenings. The metallic comma heel creates an added further, different, dimension of shine. Wear these shoes, and you really will be the star of the party.

Macramé Embroidered

This season’s pieces feature the heel reinvented with a gorgeous, intricate macramé embroidered cotton. The deep cream material creates an elegant piece, which is a lovely shoe for long summer holiday evenings. Pair with a flowy white cotton dress for a dreamy outfit. The elegant white heels will elevate the outfit, allowing you to wear a relaxed-style dress for maximum comfort.

The J’adior heels with intricate macramé embroidered cotton are also available in black. This shoe is more versatile, and can be worn in the winter months with a little black dress. The embroidery adds a sultry feel to your evening outfit.

Ballerina Flats

The J’adior slingbacks are also available in a technical fabric. This creates a very sporty heel for an “off-model-duty-look”, even you’re still craving the added height. I’d recommend the ballerina flats with this technical material, as it creates a relaxed summer shoe for going to the grocery store, but the iconic bow and pointed toe add a little element of sophistication.
