Michelin Musings: London’s Da Terra

“Da Terra”, “from the ground”- our roots. Da Terra pays homage to Chef Rafael Cagali’s roots; his great grandfather was born in Italy, Rafael grew up in Brazil, and lived in Spain for a while. Da Terra showcases Chef Rafael Cagali’s Brazilian and Italian roots, taking you on a culinary experience which combines South American and European cuisine.

Rafael has quite the culinary resumé – from 3 Michelin star Martin Berasategui and Quique Dacosta in Spain, to the famous Fat Duck and Calridge’s in the UK. He founded his own, Da Terra, in 2019. Fellow business partner Paulo Airaudo also has quite the accolades- in parallel running one Michelin star restaurant Amelia in San Sebastian.

This fusion restaurant was rewarded with a Michelin star after 8 months, and added a second Michelin star in 2021. With a Michelin star a year, we are hotly anticipating, the way trends are going, a 3rd Michelin star in 2022.

This 2 Michelin Star restaurant is located within The Town Hall Hotel, a Victorian building in the heart of Bethnal Green. Previously a Typing Room, Da Terra is a minimal and relaxed spot to dine and enjoy the finest of cross-continental cuisine. Dissected in half, the front room has a live view of the open kitchen, and you truly will get a taste of the action.

Da Terra offer a “blind tasting”, meaning that you will not receive a menu on arrival, and, instead, each dish arrives table side as a true surprise gift!

The tasting menu is £185, with the wine pairing an additional £115.

As always, let me know your thoughts when you try Da Terra! If you’re travelling to Spain, you’ve got to try Barcelona’s 3 Michelin Star ABaC. Let me know which Michelin Star restaurants I should add to my list!

Lots of love, Jo xoxo
