Mayfair is a hidden gem for brunch and coffee finds – there are so many cute cafes in nooks and crannies… you just need to know where to look! Alas, that is why I’ve compiled this selection of some of my favourite coffees and brunches in this quaint part of the capital. This is Part 2 of my Mayfair guide and I am sure there will be a Part 3 et al. If you missed Part 1, you can find it here.
As always, enjoy your avocado toasts & flat whites with oat m!lks and let me know your recommendations.
Lots of love, Jo xoxo
DRUNCH
You can’t go wrong with Eggs Royale! If you like your açai bowls sweet, then I would recommend this beauty, topped with strawberries, raspberries & banana slices. Have more of a savoury tooth? Try one of their sandwiches- from the Drunch Beef Burger to the Chicken Milanese Wrap. The coffees come sprinkled with cute quotes to add the cherry on the cake! “Good Times Only” is certainly a mantra to live by, especially in these Covid times!
DISTRICT
A perfect place to grab your caffeine kick in Mayfair en route between Selfridges and Bond Street! Tucked away on Brooks Mews, it’s a minimalistic, airy cafe where you can catch up with a friend over coffee. Owner Chelsea dreamt of brining the Aussie brunch culture to the heart of London & in 2017 her dream became a reality – District Coffee was born. Choose their vegan & dairy free Aussie Açai bowl for brunch – topped with homemade granola, toasted coconut & freshly sliced banana & cacao nibs! It’s healthy, it’s aesthetic & you’ll soon be thinking your basking in the Aussie sun.
RALPH’S
Recline and relax on Ralph Lauren’s beautiful terrace on Bond Street, basking in the British Sun. When I visited, I was in luck – the sun was shining, the streets were calm, and there was a peaceful, tranquil ambiance. Their iconic cart marks the entrance to the store – the green and white stripes and white flowers, reminiscent of a sunny day at Wimbledon.
PLANTS BY DELICIOUSLY ELLA
A gorgeous red brick restaurant in the heart of Mayfair, Plants has a cosy vibe, making you feel right at home. The burnt orange sofas and chairs complement the hanging greenery, and the tapestry feel chairs are the perfect place to sit & relax & catch up with your bestie. Ella sometimes pops into her restaurant & when I visited for a long overdue catch up with my friend Rachel, Ella popped by & we had a lovely chat with her!
I can’t wait to visit again & try the King Oyster Mushroom Scallops – with parsnip purée, carrot jelly & parsnip bacon! Popping by for brekkie? The blueberry pancakes with dark chocolate sauce sounds like heaven on earth!
EVERBEAN
Everbean brings the Melbourne coffee scene to Mayfair – and we all know how much I love my Australian Artisan coffee! Founded by Jess and Onur Sav, who spent 8 years enjoying the Australian coffee scene, Everbean serves high quality, artisan coffee, along with fresh pastries from carefully sourced suppliers using traditional family recipes. Tucked away on a cute side road, it is hidden from the hustle and bustle of busy Central London – perfect!
NATASHKINO
Renowned designer Natasha Zinko brings together a fusion of fashion, coffee and fun to the heart of Mayfair! IcOniC matcha lattes which you can choose to customise with various superpowders – think CBD to relax, collagen for skin strength and ashwaganda for stress relief.
NANUSHKA
Nanushka’s coffee truly is a hidden gem. Artisan coffee in a boutique, Nanushka’s baristas create award-winning drinks, rivalling the best of London’s coffee shops. A homely townhouse store, Nanushka’s London flagship, designed by Sandra Sandor, intertwines “design with living”, creating a Narnia-esque feel.
As soon as you step through the front doors of this Grade II listed Mayfair house, you will think you have stumbled into Nanushka’s home; clothes are carefully curated across 2 floors, whilst innovative furniture is invitingly well-placed throughout the space – designed by renowned Hungarian designers Laszlo and Breuer, and Lenci, and juxtaposed against the modern glass accents and exposed brick nooks.
THE SERVICE
Saville Row’s first and only coffee shop, The Service, co-founded by James Sleate in September 2020, serves premium Italian coffee. This coffee house is, rather unsurprisingly considering its location, reminiscent of a premium tailors. Indeed, coupled with coffee, The Service also hosts tailoring exhibitions and is a marketplace! It’s the perfect place to recline, have a networking coffee or business catch up or study or work remotely! Matte gold accents complement the bottle green walls and wooden panelling, creating a dark, refined atmosphere.
