Mayfair Brunch & Coffee Favourites Part 1

Mayfair is a hidden gem for brunch and coffee finds – there are so many cute cafes in nooks and crannies… you just need to know where to look! Alas, that is why I’ve compiled this selection of some of my favourite coffees and brunches in this quaint part of the capital.

HIDEAWAY

Founded by Ollie Dabbous, the mastermind behind Hide, Hideaway is a shining gem on Mount Street. The kitchen is headed up by current Hide sous chef Andrew Alu, and you can be sure that love, care and attention has been put into each and every dish – the Crushed Avocado Toast with herb dressing is a delicate brunch choice. The trophy dish? Dabbous’s truffle Croque Monsieur, of course. Team with black truffle or white truffle for a lavish weekend brunch.

LALÏ

A luxurious lifestyle space in the heart of Mayfair, on the secluded Bruton Place, Lalï is a beautiful place to have a remote working day, or coffee break if you’re working in the nearby offices. Described as a “tropical getaway”, Lalï exudes a relaxing yet refined vibe – cream tables and neutral furnishings create a tranquil ambiance. Green palms are dotted around the cafe, as are dried beige bouquets, both of which add a soothing touch. Soft beige cushions with black piping rest on the comfy beige alcove sofas, complementing the light brown weave chairs. You’ll feel like you’re in paradise, and ease your stress – a calm, zen place to work for sure!

Shot exudes decadence and grandeur, providing a high-end cafe in the heart of Mayfair. Beautiful coffee, with top quality table service. Glossy white marble tables fill the restaurant, whilst matching white seating provides the perfect place to sit back and relax. Grey speckled mirrors line the walls, complementing the black crockery and shiny gold accents.

CONNAUGHT PATISSERIE

A Venetian pink cafe in the heart of Mayfair, serving luxe pastries and decadent cakes. Designed by Ab Rogers Design, The Patisserie exudes love and elegance, with magenta pink glass lights dangling above Bianco Fantastico marble, and plush coral chairs inviting you to take a seat and enjoy your treats.

The Connaught Patisserie serve gorgeous cakes and fresh pastries, crafted by Executive Pastry Chef Nicolas Rouzaud. The Connaughty Hound is a true chocolate delight! It’s a divine chocolate hazelnut cake, covered in chocolate ganache, perfect for devouring on a winter’s day. The River Cafe’s famous and exclusive Chocolate Nemesis is delivered to The Connaught Patisserie daily – and it’s the first time that this iconic dessert has been available outside of the renowned restaurant.

QUEEN’S OF MAYFAIR

If you’re looking for a boozy brunch in Mayfair, but would also like to catch up with a friend, then Queen’s is the place to go. It’s the perfect mix between the drunk-brunch of Bagatelle and the gorgeous ambiance of Marylebone’s Ivy.

Queen’s is the Crown Jewels of sisters Grace & Victoria Sheppard; the menu pays homage to their home county of Dorset, with a strong emphasis on seasonal produce. At the top of my bucket list for next time is certainly their signature brunch dish – truffled mushrooms on toast! If you’ve got a sweet tooth, then the vegan pancakes are a sure winner – served with seasonal berries and compote.

As soon as you enter this restaurant, you will be treated like a Queen – the staff are bubbly, (just like the alcohol), friendly, smiley and chatty and will treat you like royalty. The interior is just as vibrant and bubbly as the alcohol and staff – bright orange sofa seats line the walls, contrasting with bright blue accents!

This Modern French restaurant combines fine French food with a contemporary twist, to provide an idyllic summer time brunch spot. The interior boasts white marble tables, contrasted against brown leather sofas, and plenty of shiny modern mirrors and sea-saw-esque lights – creating a quirky yet still elegant atmosphere.

Their outdoor seating area is the perfect place to people watch in the summer months – simply recline back on their white and light grey woven chairs, surrounded by blooming flowers and a sea of greenery, sip on your iced coffee and you’ll soon be thinking you’re in peaceful, quaint Paris… and forget that you’re steps away from the bustling Oxford Street.
