I LOVE MIU (MIU)
It’s difficult to find a fashion house that unites the girliest of girlie girls obsessed with pinks, pearls and bows, and more preppy girls looking for a twist to their style. Miu Miu, however, is the brand that manages to be one of the few in that Venn diagram intersection that does both. My friend Helen and I visited the store the other day, and we were both in love with the pieces. How can our two incompatible styles have both loved Miu Miu? It’s the magic of the fashion house…
THE WANDER’S WANDERFUL WANDERLUST
Dreamt up by Miuccia Prada, the bag debuted in A/W 22 and the face of the campaign: Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney. Combined with preppy miniskirts and cute pumps, the campaign was captivating. Emily Rata was one of the first to be photoed with the bag, whilst other fans include Hailey Bieber, Gigi Hadid, Alexa Chung and more…
The crescent shape combined with their iconic matelassé nappa quilting is what makes the bag so celestial, aspirational and mesmerising. The love, care and attention in each little quilted strip shines through – the high quality is refreshing in a world where we have seen many designers taking cost cutting measures and quality reducing.
The Wander has us mesmerised. This playful crescent-shaped arm candy is like a chameleon. Coming in a variety of pops of colour, pick pink for a sweet candy look, or the black nappa leather for a more preppy grunge look.
Choose nappa for a high, sophisticated feel, and regenerated nylon for more of a relaxed, sport-chic aesthetic. The regenerated nylon version (created from recycled materials from the ocean) also has a detachable little pouch where you can store your AirPods. The Wander is also available in a selection of unique materials – think satin (perfect for a birthday dinner!!) and wicker and shearling (a cosy winter piece).
The cute Mini (H17cm x W20cm x L6cm) is a nice accessory to your outfit whilst the Standard (H24cm x W29cm x L9.5cm) is a great weekend go-to bag – pop your wallet, keys, phone and lipgloss and you’re good to go! The bag can be worn day and night – I’d say especially the nappa version. The leather effect combined with the gold metal lettering creates a nocturnal feel to the bag…whilst being discreet enough to be worn in the daytime to museums, brunch and more. It’s a showstopping statement, whilst being simple and subtle.
