How can a duvet keep you warm, *and* be flattering? Winter coats usually fall into 2 categories.
- Category A: Warm, snug, cosy. These coats usually engulf you, and make you look like a human marshmallow, taking inspiration from the Michelin Man.
- Category B: stylish, fashionable, cute. Usually you will freeze to death within 2 minutes of stepping outside. This is usually my coat of choice. It is also why my hands are blue, and also why I have no grounds for complaining that I am cold, when I have thrust upon my outfit choice on myself.
Alas! Step in Canada Goose. Sitting partly in category A and partly in category B. It combines the best of both worlds, doing Hannah Montana proud. Read on to find out why Canada Goose is the coat of the winter season. Sorry, coat of every winter season past, present and future.
Today I’ll shine the spotlight on my favourite Canada Goose coat that’s on my winter wishlist this year: The Trillium Parka!
COLOURS
The Parka is available in a variety of neutral colours, making it a versatile piece. Black is my go to, as it will match more outfits and is easier to maintain. Other darker shades include Graphite, Navy and Arctic Navy.
For a lighter look, which I’d recommend for brunettes and darker hair colours, the coat also is available in Limestone, Military Green and a pristine bright North Star White.
If you’re wanting to add a bit of colour to your winter outfit, the Stormy Sky blue is ~GORGEOUS~. In fact, after the black, I’d say this is my next favourite. It’s a bright sky blue which will brighten your dark winter days. There is also a bright red and a deep burgundy Redwood.
WARMTH
Winter coats have the surprisingly difficult task of ticking two seemingly contradictory boxes: Warmth & Style. Canada Goose’s Trillium Parka ticks both boxes.
The coat will keep you warm even in the coldest conditions – certainly British weather *AND BEYOND*. It has a Thermal Experience Index rating of 4, meaning that you can endure temperatures as low as -25C! The only other rating higher than this is TE5, to endure sub -30C conditions. I do not have any expeditions planned and I think -25C will be more than sufficient in England.
Warm is an understatement. This cosy duvet is filled with 625 Fill Power Responsibly Sourced Duck Down.
FIT
The Parka is available in 2 fits:
- Classic
- Fusion: This is great for more petite frames as the sleeves are shorter, the chest and hips are narrower
The coat also has a drawcord at the waist which allows you to cinch your waist to accentuate your curves a little whilst wearing the warmest duvet on Earth.
What I love about the coat is that there are interior backpack straps, meaning that you can carry the coat as a cape over your shoulders. This is great when you want to take your coat off when you enter a department store, but don’t want the hassle of having to carry it in your hands or bring massive bag to stuff it in as you go about your leisurely shopping spree.
HOOD & POCKETS
Choose the Arctic Tech hood if you prefer the furless look. This coat is less dear, at £950 vs £1,250. However, on my list is the fur trim hood – it gives more of a snuggly, cosy look!
The jacket also has several pockets – there are 2 lower pockets with flaps where you can put your phone, house keys and essentials. There are 2 fleece-lined hand warmer pockets so you can keep your hands warm without competing for valuable pocket space with your wallet, phone and keys. There is also a zipped interior pocket where you can put more valuable items which you don’t need to reach as often.
And, if I still haven’t convinced you: there is a lifetime guarantee. High quality, excellent craftsmanship, and easy repair. Score.

Lots of love, Jo xoxo
