Sunday Self Care Staples

Sunday signals the start of the new week, a time to rest, relax and reset and prepare for the week ahead. The key to a good morning routine, and good week ahead, is a good evening routine and preparation. Here’s how I relax and unwind after a long week at work, and reset and prepare for the week ahead.

CAREER JOURNALS

Make sure you are prepared for the week ahead. Are you working towards your career goals? It’s easy to take each day as it comes, and see it as a “go to work. come home. rest. sleep. repeat”. But are you living your dream life? Are you on your path to live your dream life? This is why it is important to reflect on your previous week, and see how you can improve the week ahead, to ensure that you are on track.

  • Reflect on the career goals you set last week – how did you progress with them? What are you proud of?  Is there any thing you could improve on for next week?
  • Write down your career goals for next week. What steps are you going to take to achieve these goals? Maybe you need to schedule a meeting with your manager to ask for a specific type of taks – maybe you would want to work with more of a consumer technology client, whilst you have been working with media client recently? Maybe you want to take more ownership in liaising with clients? Whatever it is, write it down as an action item to discuss with your manager.

I love keeping track of my career goals in hardback aesthetic journals – this makes the goals feel more concrete and actionable. I love Papier journals and Smythson. Here are a few of my favourite journals:

SHOWER CARE

Nothing beats a shower routine with Aesop’s shower gel. My go-to is the Geranium Leaf Cleanser – a refreshingly citrus scent envelopes your skin, leaving you feeling pleasantly refreshed. Packed with geranium, mandarin and bergamot, it’s the creme de la creme of shower gels.

Another favourite is Aesop’s Rose Body Cleanser. This one packs a fruity punch – it’s floral yet spicy, refreshing yet warm. How so? Filled with rose petal, cardamom and black pepper, these contrasting ingredients create a sharp and refreshing cleanser.

What I love about Aesop us that they are a sustainably-conscious company. The 500ml bottles are created with 97% recycled plastic. Choose the bottle without the press-y lid for a more recycle-friendly option.

CANDLES

There is *nothing* like the feeling of a smelling your favourite candle as you snuggle up in bed with some good Netflix and a cup of hot chocolate on a Sunday night.

Diptique are my absolute favourite candles. High-grade ingredients, powerfully strong scents that fill your room, they are a winner in my books.

My favourite? The “Oud”. Dark. Smoky. Captivating.

In a similar light (excuse the pun), I am o-b-s-e-s-s-e-d obsessed with the “John Galliano” candle. Dark and leathery.

Another one I love is the “Ambre” – a slightly woody and spicy candle, which is great to burn with the John Galliano scent.

My winter treat? The “Biscuit” candle. It’s caramel-ly with notes of biscuit. I love the candle jar – red speckles are combined with golden accents to create a truly Christmas vibe.Keep your eyes peeled for the Diptique winter collection and grab this candle before it disappears.

What are your Sunday self care rituals? What should I try this week? Let me know in the comments below!

Lots of love, Jo xoxo
