Dior x Harrods

Could you have dreamed a better collaboration than Dior’s takeover of Harrods? Marrying the bright, golden Harrods Christmas facade with Dior’s shining Christmas collection, the two powerhouses have joined forces to create, arguably, the best Harrods Christmas on record. This marriage comes as a celebration of Dior’s 70 years at Harrods, took over 19 months to plan (!!) and is the department store’s largest takeover to date. To add the cherry on to the (gingerbread) cake, it is also my 25th Birthday on Christmas, so this collaboration could not have come at a better time. You can bet that I have the perfect excuse to return to my favourite city for Christmas.

HARRODS WINDOWS

The journey starts outside, on Brompton Road, where Harrods and Dior magnetically draw you in. 44 of Harrods’ windows showcase Dior’s awe-inspiring work, featuring gingerbread scenery. The already twinkling Harrods facade now combines illuminating Dior symbols, including stars, compasses and roses. The shining star of the show? The 17m x 17m Dior compass with graces the front of the store. Rumour has it that the outside alone took more than a year to build.

TWO POP-UP BOUTIQUES

Since its creation, and to this day, Dior continues to provide a form of escapism, inspiring clients to dabble with the Dior dream. As all as an immersive exhibition, and breathtaking installations, inside, you will also find 2 festive pop-up boutiques where you can window shop, or gift a beautiful gift for someone special, gifting them the Dior dream.

The first pop-up features a conveyor belt showcasing glittering gifts from fashion to beauty, including the Lady Dior, Book Totes and more. Add a further touch of haute couture to your beauty gifts with the gorgeous gift wrap, designed by Pietro Ruffo.

The second pop-up boutique will help you to find the perfect present for friends and family.  …

  • Maria Grazia Chiuri’s book totes have now been draped with the Rêve d’Infini motif
  • India Mahdavi’s new J’adore bottle creates a unique twist on a classic signature scent
  • Harrods exclusive Lady Diors with golden bead embellishment and Harrods exclusive Saddle Bags
  • Printed Dior T-Shirts
  • Dior homeware and Miss dior chairs

KINGDOM OF DREAMS EXHIBITION

Prepare to be whisked away (in both the sweeping sense and baking sense), into the gingerbread World of Dior. Not only has 30 Montaigne itself being created as a sweet treat, (which, in itself, is a feat) but  other notable buildings have also been replicated in gingerbread form including La Colle Noir, which Dior bought in 1951 to grow flowers for his perfumes.

The fun doesn’t stop there. This is a gingerbread exhibition like no other. Look closely and you will see signature dresses and bags made from gingerbread… *And* you will find little gingerbread men moving (yes, you heard right, moving) to create these show-stopping pieces.

Prepare to be dazzled by the larger than life gingerbread houses, and be mesmerised by the details on clothes, bags and buildings. Breathtaking is an understatement. Make sure to book your free slot to the basement exhibition here for your chance to see this spectacular, once-in-a-lifetime exhibition.

DIOR CAFE

French cuisine intertwined with British influences, the Harrods x Dior Cafe provides a truly festive location for a winter lunch with friends. The Harrods Dior cafe marries my two favourite things: fashion and food. You can be sure to find me dining here this Christmas. Delicious dishes include roasted chestnut veloute, Cornish crab with green apple and salmon and langoustine ravioli with caviar sauce  …

Seats have been created with the house’s iconic toile de Jouy print whilst cutlery and crockery features Dior’s Cannage motif. The cafe has been constructed form gingerbread-looking-resin, with white “icing” accents and golden touches. It’s as though you had stepped into a Hansel and Gretel Christmas fairytale.

Of course, make sure to try the Dior gingerbread biscuits – choose between the Book Tote, Saddle, Lady Dior, J’adore perfume, Oblique suit and 30 Montaigne plaque. These are also cute Christmas gifts for friends! Which will you be picking?
